Chris Jenkinson initially studied graphics and illustration before progressing to study Fine Art at the Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art between 2003 and 2007.
Jenkinson has taken time to study and develop an powerful hyper-realist style and is interested in two contemporary references/themes -
(1) He creates hyper-real studies of contemporary Glasgow scenes, including the West End and Byres Road and the City Centre. He likes to multi-dimensional images with reflected images, where he is allowing the viewer to enjoy two or three slices of the scene in the one painting. He also likes to remind us of the climate that we have come to accept - Glasgow's typical wet climate and pavements !
(2) Jenkinson engages a more humorous, reflective narrative/commentary in his PLAY SCENARIOS where he uses everyday contemporary toy play settings to poke at and highlight potential societal issues.
LEMOND MoDERN seeks to give Jenkinson a platform to expose his enjoyable city depictions and enlightening socio-economic narratives. His insights are sharp. modern and cleverly challenging - his paintings would add modern dimensions to any serious art collection and he undoubtedly has a very bright future as a contemporary visual commentator.
